Etymology[]
黒服 (Black Suit) is the official Organization term.[8] Unused in licensed translations. VIZ Media uses "Man in Black" in Scene 109.[9]
Possibly alluding to Men in Black].
Appearance[]
Expressionistic in depiction.
Other than black-colored clothes, no specific form of dress. Dress varies from monk's cowl (Orsay)[10] to cleric suit (Rubel).[11] Religious-like habit may contribute verisimilitude to Organization's cover as charity.
Some Men in Black wear pieces of armor (Rado).[12]
Some may carry weapons. In a Sutafu village, Rafaela overhears a villager saying that "black-suit guys with swords" (黒い服の連中刀) demanded that a family surrender their newborn, twin girls to the Organization.[13]
As with many Organization personnel, Men in Black show evidence of past injuries, ranging from facial scars to blindness.
One Man in Black, Rubel, appears not to age, despite the timeskip between the Teresa arc and the Next Generation of Claymore warriors.

Description[]
Field agents for Organization.
Due to universal wearing of dark clothes, Men in Black are sometimes confused with other sectors of Organization, such as the Executive or Retrieval Squad.
In Scene 41 Rubel and Ermita are shown in typical Executive meeting. Here they are instructed by Chief Limt. Men in Black act as case officers/handlers for warriors. Mode of travel by boat is unshown in manga.[14]

- Monitor warriors in the field

- Should instructions not be available directly from Headquarters, in the field a Man in Black's authority is as if from Headquarters
History[]
Teresa arc[]
Rosemary[]
Sends Teresa to Godar Hill on black card assignment, where she is to euthanize Rosemary.
When Orsay sees Teresa's disheveled state on her return, he asks if Rosemary awoke. Appears ambivalent with Teresa's jocular response that Rosemary did not awaken and that Yoma damaged her uniform.[15]
Clare[]
Teo[]
Teresa meets Orsay on outskirts of a town, where Teresa completed an assignment. He cautions her not to spread rumors of Yoma being sent by the Organization for non-payment. He gives a new assignment—the village of Teo.[16]
Rokut[]
After rescuing Clare, Teresa executes bandit gang in Rokut, breaking cardinal rule of Organization—never kill humans. Later she resists execution, when Orsay refuses to reveal Clare's fate. Teresa leaves with Clare.[17]
Orsay orders warriors No. 2–5 to find and purge Teresa.[18]
Clare arc[]
Strah[]
Clare rendezvous with Rubel at waterfall. She receives new orders to proceed to village of Strah.[19] Later, Rubel gives her Elena's black card at desert oasis.[20]
Rabona[]
Rubel instructs Clare on a covert mission to Rabona, using the cover of an antique dealer traveling with her younger brother (Raki). He gives her suppressant to disguise her silver eyes.[21]
Ophelia[]
Executive has meeting with Rubel. The awakened body of Ophelia has been found. Limt asks if Clare killed Ophelia. Rubel expresses doubts. Executive members debate whether Clare's transplant of Teresa succeeded or not.[22]
In the end, Limt orders Ermita to find Clare.[23]
Pieta[]
During the Battle of the North, Rubel sends Galatea to Alfons as an observer.[24] After the fighting is over, Rubel meets Galatea in a Pieta church. Galatea falsely reports that she cannot detect Clare's Yoma aura, giving the impression that Clare is dead.[25]
7-year timeskip[]
Ghosts[]
After being rescued by Ghosts, Clarice reports finding only 17 grave-marks to Executive. Rado reassigns Clarice to help No. 4, Miata.[26]
Later, in a repeat of the Rubel-Clare meeting,[27] Rado instructs Clarice on a covert mission to find Galatea.[28]
Rebellion[]
Organization Headquarters[]
Lead by Miria, warriors ignore the orders of the Organization to attack the approaching rebels. Rebellion begins.[29]
Resurrection[]
After Limt questions and punishes Rafutera,[30] he orders release of Abyss Feeders, while Dae resurrects Hysteria, Roxanne and Cassandra.[31]
During battle between rebels and Abyss Feeders, the resurrected warriors cut down everyone en masse.[32] But the Men in Black panic as the resurrected warriors awaken.[33]
Later, Raki tell the rebels that all Organization personnel fled Headquarters.[34]

- Modern Men in Black appears in Undeadman, Norihiro Yagi's first manga. The are sent by Dr. Stein to kill the title character[35]
- Undeadman's Men in Black wear dark clothes and dark glasses, as does Rubel[36]
