Etymology[]
Unnamed by characters in manga and anime. From the Old French, "sabaton" is a diminutive of "soller," or shoe, from the Late Latin subtēlāris.
Description[]
Claymore warriors wear metal shoes or shoe guards called sabatons .
Sabatons vary in construction among warriors. Clare's consists of two separate pieces—a solid toe and heel guard worn over her boots.[1]
Other warriors wear sabatons with a more shoe-like construction. Elena wears armor over the instep, which connect the toe and heel pieces.[2] Ophelia's has a boat-like construction.[3]
Heel heights range from flat to raised.
