Cold open[]

In Rokut village, Teresa has just killed Rig. She tells the bandits to pray—they are all about to die.[5]

Battle with bandits[]

Challenge[]

But Boss only laughs. He challenges Teresa to a sword-fight. His special attack is the whip-like "Falcon Sword," which is so fast it only leave a blur. Teresa and Clare dodge Boss' assaults. When Boss tries a new move, Teresa attacks and kills him.[6]

The terrified bandits flee the village.[7] The next morning, when Clare awakes, she finds the entire gang executed.[8]

Witness[]

From a cliff, Orsay watches the proceedings. Teresa has violated the cardinal rule of the Organization: never kill a human, regardless of the circumstances.[9]

Penalty[]

Purge team[]

The next day, Orsay oversees a purge team of five Claymore warriors, who surround Teresa. He restrains a grieving Clare as Teresa submits to being executed. But when Teresa asks about Clare's fate, Orsay says Clare is no longer Teresa's concern.[10]

Scene 017a
Purge team

Teresa changes her mind about submitting to execution. She whirls round her sword, wounding and disabling the warriors. She says she now has a reason to live—Clare.[11]

New Purge team[]

Teresa and Clare leave. Another Man in Black complains about Teresa's behavior. Orsay says not to worry and then orders warriors No. 2–5 to find and kill Teresa.[12]
