Cold open[]

Priscilla cannot defeat Teresa in an unexpectedly, one-sided sword-fight. She cannot understand why.[5]

Teresa's future concern[]

Despite Priscilla's own misgivings, Teresa understands the true situation. For now, she treads a fine line between repelling Priscilla's attacks and holding back on killing her.

But Priscilla is a monster in the making. Though Teresa will win this fight, she cannot predict the outcome of the next.[6]

Intervention[]

The rest of the purge team—Ilena, Noel and Sophia—surround Teresa. All but Teresa release their Yoma energy. The resulting auras send the villagers into spasms of disgust.[7]On Priscilla's command, they attack.

But Teresa repels all of them.[8]

Purge team defeated[]

But Teresa wounds all four, leaving them disabled in the street. Ilena realizes that Teresa has not even bothered to use her Yoma energy, despite the entire purge team using theirs.[9]

And that they were defeated by standard sword technique, with no special ability or technique apparent on Teresa's part (see Versatility).

Additional details[]

Notes[]

  • Despite being fully human, Clare and the villagers all sense the huge Yoma auras of the purge team[10]
  • A man describes the release of Yoma energy as having "a chill" effect[11]
